MASL amends red cards, hands out additional penalties to Comets and Ambush

The Major Arena Soccer League has amended the red cards issued after the Kansas City Comets victory of the St. Louis Ambush. Kevin Ellis from the Comets, Pepe Junquiera and Heweton Moreira of St. Louis were initially issued red cards after the match on March 23^rd.

Ellis and Pepe will now be allowed to play in their next match and Moreira will be allowed to coach their next game. All three have received undisclosed fines and accumulated a penalty point towards their season accumulation.

Additionally, the MASL Disciplinary Committee has fined and issued penalty points to the Kansas City’s Stefan Stokic and the Ambush’s Stefan St. Louis. Both the Comets and the Ambush have also received fines for “for violating bench decorum.”

The match on the 23^rd was physical and heated throughout most of the game. After years of being dominated by the Comets, St. Louis had managed to win four of the first five meetings of the cross-state rivals this season.

After the Ambush got out to another good start, the Comets clawed back and took the lead and ended up winning it 11-7 in a game that meant everything for the playoff chances of both teams.

The Ambush are hanging on by a thread with one game left and one game behind the Comets. Kansas City has three matches left and one win would secure another playoff appearance.

Hewerton Moreira (St Louis) - Undisclosed fine amount issued for violent conduct/serious foul play in the game on March 23rd. One penalty point issued to season accumulation.

Stefan St Louis (St Louis) - Undisclosed fine amount issued for violent conduct/serious foul play in the game on March 23rd. One penalty point issued to season accumulation.

Kansas City Comets - Undisclosed fine amount issued for violating bench decorum conduct in the game on March 23rd.

St Louis Ambush - Undisclosed fine amount issued for violating bench decorum conduct in the game on March 23rd.
