Shades of Blue is back at it again after a historic 7-1 win over the Montreal Impact with a look ahead to the CCL Semifinals in Monterrey on Thursday. Cody, Bob, & Thad were talking all things Sporting Kansas City including the recent news of Jaylin Lindsey’s injury.
You’ve watched the highlights over and over (and over) but which one of the record-setting seven goal performance was your favorite? There are so many words to describe the dominance, but we landed on curb stomping. That feels right.
As always, Thad is on hand to remind to us why we shouldn’t get too excited after a win like that. But there is still a 75% chance this is the greatest soccer team ever assembled.
The real focus right now for much of SKC Nation is the Concacaf Champions League Semifinals. We take a quick look at Monterrey’s Liga MX season so far, including key players. This Monterrey squad has a transfer market value of about four times that of Sporting KC (~$80 million and ~$20 million respectively). One of the best teams in North America the last few years, Monterrey is sure to be a big test.
What must Sporting KC do in the first leg to advance at home? Keeping it close and getting an away goal seems quite doable with the way SKC have been scoring.
We also take a look at lineup predictions and what The Blue Testament community is wanting to see.
Before wrapping up, we discussed the injury to Jaylin Lindsey and what it means to the depth of Peter Vermes’ squad. Who are the backups at outside back? Could they be forced into a formation change if Zusi needs a rest?
