MLS: New York Red Bulls at Sporting Kansas City Peter G. Aiken

It was a lackluster weekend across soccer in Kansas City with Sporting Kansas City falling hard in San Jose, the Kansas City Comets season ending in Milwaukee, and the Swope Park Rangers (with the highlight of the weekend) getting a 0-0 draw on the road against Birmingham. Sporting’s Graham Zusi though hit a major milestone for Kansas City last night. Here’s the stats and milestones from this weekend.

Sporting Kansas City

In the 50th minute, Graham Zusi hit the 20,000 minute mark in league play for Sporting. He’s the 4th player to hit that mark for the club.

In the 17th minute, Tim Melia moved ahead of Josh Wolff and into 17th place for minutes played across all competitions, Melia finished the game wtih 13,013 minutes played.

Melia made his 144th start in all competitions for KC, tying him with Wolff for 16th all time on that list.

Johnny Russell made his 50th appearance in all competitions for KC, he’s the 74th player to hit that mark.

Swope Park Rangers

Felipe Hernandez made his 50th league start for Swope, he’s the 3rd player to hit that mark.

In the 75th minute, Hernandez moved ahead of Kharlton Belmar and into 4th place for minutes played in all competitions, he finished the game with 4,493 minutes played.

In the 14th minute, Wan Kuzain moved ahead of Hadji Barry and into 10th all time for minutes played in league play, he finished the game with 2,850 minutes played.

Kuzain made his 32nd league start, tying him with Oumar Ballo for 9th all time on that list.

Kuzain made his 34th start in all competitions, breaking his tie with Barry for 10th all time on that list.

In the 23rd minute, Graham Smith moved ahead of Tyler Blackwood and into 12th place for minutes played in league play, he finished the game with 2,643 minutes played. Smith also moved ahead of Blackwood at that time across all competitions as well, finishing with 2,823 minutes played.

Smith made his 30th league appearance, tying him with Ualefi for 16th all time on that list.

Smith made his 32nd appearance in all competitions, tying him with Kris Tyrpak for 17th all time on that list.

Smith made his 29th league start, tying him with Blackwood for 13th all time on that list.

Smith made his 31st start in all competitions, tying him with Blackwood and Ualefi for 12th all time on that list.

Kansas City Comets

Leo Gibson’s goal on 4/18 was his 50th in all competitions against the Milwaukee Wave, he’s the first player to score 50 against any one team.

Ramone Palmer recorded his 50th assist in all competitions for the Comets on 4/18, he’s the 7th player to hit that mark.

Stefan Stokic made his 169th appearance in all competitions on 4/18, tying him with Vahid Assadpour for 4th all time on that list.

John Sosa’s goal on 4/20 was his 68th in all competitions for the Comets, tyining him with Ramone Palmer for 7th all time on that list.

Kiel Williams’ goal on 4/20 gave him 34 in all competitions for the Comets, which tied him with Ignacio Flores and Anthony Grant for 13th all time on that list.
