Sporting KC Injury Updates: Down to Just Four Players Out

But there are still quite a few questionable players.

MLS: Los Angeles Galaxy at Sporting KC Peter G. Aiken

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Sporting Kansas City are kind of beat up. But the bruises, strains, sprains and breaks are healing. The first news came early this morning from The Blue Testament’s own Thad Bell. He reported only four players were fully out of practice: Rodney Wallace, Jaylin Lindsey, Erik Hurtado and Roger Espinoza.

As the morning wore on, Sam McDowell had further details. First, he reported that Daniel Salloi, Andreu Fontas and Graham Zusi would likely be available on Wednesday against the LA Galaxy.

Sam also confirmed that Gerso is unlikely to be available but he did drop a little nugget that he could be available Saturday against the Houston Dynamo. That’s good news considering it’ll be SKC’s third game in seven days.

McDowell finally laid out an official injury report (which the team will likely confirm Wednesday morning) that included Wan Kuzain, who was left out of the earlier tweets.

OUT - Gerso Fernandes, Roger Espinoza, Erik Hurtado, Jaylin Lindsey, Rodney Wallace

QUESTIONABLE - Matt Besler, Andreu Fontas, Daniel Salloi, Graham Zusi, Kuzain

It’s possible that Sporting KC will finally have 18 players on the lineup sheet. It’s something they haven’t been able to pull off over the last four MLS games. One player who won’t be available is Krisztian Nemeth who had his extension suspended by MLS on Tuesday.

LA Galaxy Injury Update

Not to be left out, we have a few details on the Galaxy as well. According to their sideline reporter Megan Reza Kazemi, Diego Polenta did not travel with the team. Speaking of travel, the Galaxy didn’t make it into Kansas City on Tuesday due to the tornados you are all probably all too aware of. They were re-routed to St. Louis with the plan to have them travel in on Wednesday.

Kevin Baxter from the LA Times also confirmed that Rolf Feltscher has a leg strain and didn’t travel with the team either. Additionally Julian Araujo is in Poland for the U-20 World Cup.
