If you are anything like me, it’s hard to keep up with all 24 teams in Major League Soccer. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with just one team. With the secondary transfer window running from July 9th through August 7th, there are lots of moves that have already been made and rumors of many more on the horizon. Here are the teams in alphabetical order (except Sporting KC, who are first in our hearts).
Sporting Kansas City
- SKC linked to Portuguese left back Luis Martins.
- Sporting KC talking to 30 players currently.
- Felipe Gutierrez linked to Cruz Azul.
Non-Team Specific MLS Rumors
Because MLS is a single-entity, sometimes players are linked to the league instead of a specific team at first. Here are those rumors:
- Peruvian defensive midfielder Renato Tapia is linked with an MLS move.
- Ex-LA Galaxy midfielder Giovani Dos Santos signs with Club America in Liga MX.
- Swedish GK Peter Abrahamsson linked to an unnamed MLS side.
- KRC Genk (Belgium) winger Dieumerci Ndongala is linked with a potential MLS move.
- Malmo (Sweden) defensive midfielder Anders Christiansen is also tied to a potential MLS move.
- Left back Miguel Samudio formerly of Queretaro FC (Liga MX) is rumored to be moving to MLS.
- Columbian forward Miguel Borja, formerly tied to Montreal, are now linked to MLS.
- Columbian forward Roger Martinez is yet another South American star tied to a potential MLS move after a strong Copa America.
Atlanta United
- Atlanta add Premier League midfielder and United States youth international Emerson Hyndman on loan from Bournemouth. United hold the option to purchase at the end of the 2019 season. Atlanta sent FC Dallas $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) as well as an international roster spot for the 2019 and 2020 seasons to obtain his Discovery Rights.
- Atlanta reported make $19 million bid for Venezuelan star Yeferson Soteldo of Santos (Brazil). Santos club president José Carlos Peres says, “He will only leave for 50 million euros ($56.3 million).”
- ATL sign sixth Homegrown, defender George Campbell.
- Pity Martinez not going anywhere.
- Brek Shea out for the year with a torn ACL.
- Mo Adams is coming to Atlanta via the Fire in a deal still breaking as this is being written.
- Atlanta trade Romario Williams to the Columbus Crew for $100,000 in GAM.
Austin FC
- Though not coming to MLS until 2021, Austin are reportedly going to try to sign Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.
Chicago Fire
Colorado Rapids
- Nana Boatang mutually agrees to leave team.
- SC Freiburg make offer for 17-year-old midfielder Cole Bassett.
Columbus Crew SC
- Columbus trade away Patrick Mullins for Jordan Hamilton, an international roster spot for the 2019 MLS season, $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) and the Right of First Refusal for an unnamed player. Columbus will keep part of Mullins’ budget charge.
- Columbus send Robinho to Orlando City for $50,000 in TAM and up to $100,000 in future GAM and TAM based on performance. The Crew retain a percentage of potential future transfer fees.
- Eloy Room, the Curacao Gold Cup star, signs as GK for the Crew.
- The Crew sign young DP midfielder Luis Diaz from Herediano (Costa Rica).
- The Columbus Crew acquired forward Romario Williams from Atlanta for $100,000 in GAM.
D.C. United
- DCU are interested in Argentine winger Mateo Garcia.
FC Cincinnati
- Kendall Waston extends his contract with the club.
- Cincy looking for “short-term” coach. Who wants that job?
- After overpaying for Waston and Nick Haglund in offseason trades, Cincy signed Dutch center back Maikel van der Werff.
FC Dallas
- Dallas sell Designated Player Carlos Gruezo to FC Augsburg for $4.5 million. The fee can rise to $6.2 million and Dallas retains 20% of sell-on fee.
- FCD acquire Edwin Gyasi on loan from CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria) with the option to buy.
- 16-year-old forward Ricardo Pepi signed a Homegrown deal with FC Dallas.
Houston Dynamo
- Houston sign Chilean defender Jose Bizama (he can apparently play fullback, CB or midfielder). He is a TAM signing.
- Dynamo striker Mauro Manotas is linked with Liga MX’s Cruz Azul.
Inter Miami
- 19-year-old Argentinian winger Matias Pellegrin from Estudiantes in Argentina is the subject of a $10 million bid from Miami.
- Barcelona star Luis Suarez is also linked with a move to Miami’s MLS Expansion bid.
- 19-year-old Argentine forward Julian Carranza is reportedly coming to Inter Miami through a $6 million transfer fee. Banfield will retain 10% of any future transfer fee.
- Breakout star Tyler Boyd of the USMNT was linked to Miami before signing with Besiktas (Turkey).
LA Galaxy
- Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon could be coming to the Galaxy for a $12 million transfer fee for 50% of Pavon’s rights.
Los Angeles Football Club
- Niko Hamalainen’s loan with LAFC ended and he’ll return to England with Queen Park Rangers.
Minnesota United
- Finnish midfielder Robin Lod who spent last season at Sporting Gijon in Spain’s Segunda Division rumored to join Minnesota on TAM deal.
Montreal Impact
- Impact to exercise Ignacio Piatti’s 2020 contract option.
- If that doesn’t work out, Independiente from Argentina have been rumored to be attempting to acquire Piatti.
Nashville SC
- Former Atletico Madrid (Spain) right back Juanfran is tied to a potential move to Nashville.
New England Revolution
- Revs sign Argentinian striker Gustavo Bou from Club Tijuana.
- Former Barcelona, Roma and Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen is linked with the Revs.
- Left back Gabriel Somi mutually agreed to part ways with the Revolution.
New York City FC
- Borussia Dortmund sign NYCFC Academy product Gio Reyna. Huge loss for New York.
- Scottish winger Gary Mackay-Steven joined NYCFC after his contract with Aberdeen FC expired.
New York Red Bulls
- Center back Aaron Long is drawing transfer offers from abroad. Brian Dunseth has “been told there’s been multiple offers, including a Premier League team offer, for Aaron Long.”
Orlando City

Philadelphia Union
- USA International forward Andrew Wooten signed with the Union.
- Union look to end loan for goalkeeper Carlos Miguel Coronel so he can return to Red Bulls Salzburg in Austria.
- Philly extend head coach Jim Curtain on a new multi-year deal.
- The Union add MLS veteran RJ Allen. The fullback spent 2018 with Orlando City and 2015-2017 with NYCFC.
- Philadelphia midfielder Jamiro Monteiro has his loan extended through the end of the 2019 season.
Portland Timbers
- “We will look to bring in at least one player,” said GM Gavin Wilkinson.
- Portland extend coach Gio Savarese and staff to multi-year contract extensions.
Real Salt Lake
- Joao Plata’s rumored move to Atletico San Luis (recently promoted to Liga MX) is reportedly off.
- Premier League clubs Newcastle United and West Ham United are interested in Jefferson Savarino.
- “There are several very serious conversations surrounding not only Jefferson, but one or two of our other players as well,” said GM Craig Waibel. RSL are also apparently looking for fullback options “both domestic and abroad.”
San Jose Earthquakes
- The Quakes have acquired Mexican winger Carlos Fierro from Cruz Azul (Mexico). He was on loan with Morelia (Liga MX) for the 2018-19 season.
- Stiker Andres Rios, who previously played for Matias Almeyda at River Plate, is rumored to be coming to San Jose.
Seattle Sounders
- Nicolas Lodeiro linked with a move back to Boca Juniors.
- Sounders promote Tacoma Defiance striker Justin Dhillon to first team.
Toronto FC

- TFC sign Venezuelan winger Erickson Gallardo.
- Chinese club Jiangsu Suning FC reportedly make $10 million bid for striker Jozy Altidore.
- Sebastian Giovinco is linked with a possible return to TFC after being sold before the start of the 2019 season.
- 19-year-old winger Jacob Shaffelburg signed a Homegrown deal with Toronto.
Vancouver Whitecaps
- Ali Adnan, who was on loan, is now a Designated Player who will play left back for the Caps.
- The Whitecaps are pursuing Korean international striker Ui-jo Hwang from Gamba Osaka.
