Sporting KC injury report vs Minnesota for 8/22

One out, two questionable and one mystery

Manager Peter Vermes has been well challenged throughout the season with injuries, often having to juggle based on the number of players that might be able to go a full 90 minutes. Vermes has a lot more to choose from, although 90 minute fitness is still an issue for a number of the Sporting Kansas City players.

Only three Sporting KC players are on the injury report for the match versus Minnesota United FC.

  1. Rodney Wallace is still out and will be for the rest of the year.
  2. Adrian Zendejas was upgraded to questionable with a back issue. Zendejas was sitting out practice for a couple weeks resting his back. He most likely would not be in the 18 unless there was a late injury with probable starter Tim Melia or backup Eric Dick.
  3. Gerso Fernandes is still questionable with an ankle injury but did return to practice this week and should be in the 18 barring a late setback in training.

Everybody else on the roster should be healthy enough to be available for selection.

Not on the injury report but presumably not in the 18 for the match is Yohan Croizet. The enigmatic Frenchman has been mysteriously absent from view lately. He hasn’t been in practice when it was open to media for a couple weeks but was in the stands with other players that were not in the 18 at the last match.

When asked about Croizet before training this week, Peter Vermes responded, “He’s training, he’s doing work.”

Maybe Croizet has been working inside during training but that is usually only when a player is recovering from an injury
