Sporting Kansas City will be without the services of two of their Internationals in September when Hungary resumes UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying. Defender Botond Barath and forward Krisztian Nemeth were named to the Hungary Men’s National Team roster today.

Barath (27) and Nemeth (30) will be with Sporting KC for the match versus the Houston Dynamo on Aug. 31st before heading to Europe.

Hungary will go on the road to play a friendly versus Montenegro on Sept. 5th before returning to Budapest to face Slovakia on Sept. 9th in qualifying. The Magyars are at the top of Group E with 3 wins and a loss. The other countries in the group are Azerbaijan, Wales, Slovakia and Croatia.

The two Hungarian Internationals will miss Sporting KC’s match versus the Portland Timbers on Sept. 7th, a match that could prove critical for the club to qualify for the playoffs. Both should be available for Sporting KC’s match at the LA Galaxy on Sept. 15th.

Barath has been a regular for Hungary since joining Sporting KC, having started all three of their wins. Nemeth has appeared more sporadically.

For their club side, Barath, has started 16 of 17 appearances in league play while Nemeth has started 15 of his 19 league games with 7 goals and 2 assists. Nemeth was leading the team in goals early in the season but has not found the back of the net for Sporting KC since May 18th.
