Sporting Kansas City II’s comeback fell short as they dropped their final match of the season to a tough Louisville City FC team by a score of 2-1.

Paulo Nagamura made three changes to the lineup with Camden Riley returning to the starting XI for the first time since September 9th. Petar Cuic and Dominik Resetar also started while Kayden Pierre got his second consecutive start at right back and leading scorer Wilson Harris dropped to the bench.

Lou City drew first blood in the 26th minute after Paulo DelPicollo headed in Brian Ownby’s cross to put the home side up 1-0. The hosts made it 2-0 in the 40th minute after Cameron Lancaster scored his 10th goal of the season.

Tyler Freeman scored his second of the season in the 64th minute to draw SKC II within one, but Lou City was able to hold off the rest of the attacks to escape with the 2-1 win.

Sporting II’s final loss of the season puts their final record at 5-10-1. Lou City’s win has now extended their unbeaten streak to 11 matches as they have finished their regular season campaign as the winners of Group E with a record of 11-3-2.

After taking a 4-0 loss against the Austin Bold, SKC II had two good rebound performances to close out the season. Bailey Sparks is certainly a player that seems like a player with a bright future that could see more time in the future.

Now with the Sporting KC II season wrapped up, it will be interesting to see who returns next season and if any of the standouts from 2020, like Wilson Harris and Jake Davis, will get first team contracts.
