For the first time this year, all three professional soccer teams in Kansas City played on the same weekend. It was a mixed bag of results with Sporting Kansas City beating Houston 4-0 while Sporting KC II lost 2-1 to the Charlotte Independence, and the Kansas City Comets went 2-1 in three games in four days. Here are stats and milestones from those five games this past weekend.

Sporting Kansas City

Tim Melia recorded his 46th league shutout for KC, breaking his tie with Jimmy Nielsen for the most all time.

Melia made his 149th league appearance for KC, tying him with Mo Johnston and Michael Harrington for 13th all time on that list.

Melia made his 155th appearance in MLS competitions, breaking his tie with Harrington for 16th all time on that list.

Roger Espinoza made his 240th league appearance, tying him with Davy Arnaud for 3rd all time on that list.

At 33 years, 134 days, Espinoza is the 11th oldest player to score a goal for KC in league play or in all competitions.

Johnny Russell recorded his 20th league assist, tying him with Kei Kamara and Jack Jewsbury for 11th all time on that list.

It was his 21st in MLS competitions, tying him with Kamara and Jewsbury for 11th on that list as well.

It was Russell’s 26th in all competitions, tying him with Mark Chung for 9th all time on that list.

Russell made his 50th league start for KC, he’s the 56th player to reach that mark.

Sporting Kansas City II

In the 49th minute, Graham Smith moved ahead of Parker Maher and into 9th place for minutes played in all competition, he finished the game with 3,993 minutes played.

Smith made his 45th appearance in all competitions, tying him with Oumar Ballo for 12th all time on that list.

Smith made his 42nd league start for KC, breaking his tie with Kharlton Belmar for 8th all time on that list.

Wilson Harris made his 27th league start, breaking his tie with Mark Anthony Gonzalez for 16th all time on that list.

Harris made his 27th start in all competitions as well, tying him with Kevin Oliveira for 18th all time on that list.

Kansas City Comets

John Sosa’s goal on 3/5 was his 71st in league play tying him with Brian Harris for 6th all time on that list. Sosa’s goal on 3/7 was his 72nd in league play, breaking his tie with Harris for 6th all time.
