Who should be the Man of the Match for SKC win over Loons on 8/21

New, 6 comments

A win, a result on the road and some good performances

MLS: Sporting Kansas City at Minnesota United FC Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

One of the things that I do as I watch most games is to mentally check off who had the best game. Some games it is easy, some games it is almost impossible (e.g., last game of the 2019 season at FC Dallas) to determine who had a good game.

This last match feels like there should be a man of the match but also does not feel like there is an absolutely, undeniably, obvious choice. I heavily leaned one way but after asking The Blue Testament contributors their thoughts and receiving a few different answers, it is time to ask the readers.

Should it be Busio for starting at the 6 for the first time? Maybe Winston Reid for making his first start? How about Tim Melia for making key saves or Graham Smith for playing well? Gadi Kinda was extremely active and Jaylin Lindsey had his first start in a while. Some might even think Cameron Duke for his first “official” regular season game.

Perhaps the man of the match is not a player? Peter Vermes moved Busio to the 6, he started Lindsey, he moved to a 5-3-2 at the end of the game.

So I do not exclude anyone, everyone who played (and Vermes) is an option. Let me know who would receive your vote and why in the comments. So I do not influence the vote too much I will add my vote Monday morning. I promise to not change it between now and then.
