This past weekend, Sporting Kansas City ended their four game winless run, topping Minnesota United 1-0 at Children’s Mercy Park on Sunday night. The win moved Sporting to the top of the Western Conference. Earlier this past week, Sporting KC II suffered a blow to their small chances of making the USL playoffs with a 2-1 loss to Indy Eleven on their almost never ending road trip. Here are stats and milestones from those two games.

Sporting Kansas City

Johnny Russell’s goal was his 22nd in MLS competitions, tying him with CJ Sapong for 12th all time on that list.

Russell’s goal was his 24th in all competitions for KC, tying him with Teal Bunbury and Gerso Fernandes for 14th all time on that list.

Russell’s goal was his 16th at home in league play for KC, breaking his tie with Digital Takawira for 11th all time on that list.

It was Russell’s 16th in all competitions at home as well, tying him with Takawira for 14th all time on that list.

At 34 years, 121 days, Tim Melia moved ahead of Kerry Zavagnin and became the 12th oldest player to appear in a game in league play or in all competitions for Kansas City.

Melia made his 165th appearance in an MLS competition, breaking his tie with Mo Johnston for 13th all time on that list.

Sporting Kansas City II

In the 69th minute Christian Duke passed Amer Didic and moved into 1st place for minutes played in all competitions for SKCII. He finished the game with 7,022 minutes played.

In the 36th minute, Camden Riley moved ahead of Oumar Ballo and moved into 11th place all time for minutes played in league play for KC, he finished the game with 2,932 minutes played.

Riley made his 36th appearance in all competitions, breaking his tie with Hadji Barry for 15th all time on that list.

Riley made his 32nd league start, tying him with Ballo for 12th all time on that list.

Rley made his 32nd start in all competitions, breaking his tie with Alexsander, Tyler Blackwood, and Ualefi for 14th all time on that list.
