Blue Links: SKCII out of playoffs, STL sets record, & Pulido is “ready”

Getting you up-to-date with all things Sporting KC and MLS this Monday morning.

MLS: FC Dallas at Sporting Kansas City Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Monday, SKC fans! No time to dwell on the loss over the weekend, we’ve got a midweek match AGAINST A DIFFERENT TEAM!

It’s not Minnesota United, you guys! It’s not the Dynamo!

However, Orlando City have been looking good this year so Sporting KC will have their hands full. The good news is that it sounds like we could see the return of Alan Pulido, who has missed four straight matches.

Let’s get to the links:

MLS Standings
Sporting Kansas City’s 20 points are good for second place in the West, but would have them in 5th place in the East. The game-in-hand is giving a boost, but it is still good to see the boys in contention after so many poor performances.

How Khiry became the player he always hoped he be
This is a nice in-depth piece about Khiry Shelton’s journey through MLS to Europe and back. It’s crazy but the guy has become one of my favorite players on the team.

Vermes critical of FC Dallas’ “disrespectful” time-wasting “antics”
Uh... yeah. Absolute trash.

Beyond the Boxscore - 200th match at CMP
It was also the first time in the stadium’s history that SKC lost a match starting at 4pm or earlier. They were 18-0-9 in day games prior to Saturday.

St. Louis City SC sets league record for season ticket deposits
The club says the received 30,000 deposits in the first 15 minutes. And 50,000 the first day. No mention of the previous league record so we might just be assuming it’s the record.

Alan Pulido “ready to be included”
The team got out in front of any questions about why Alan Pulido missed his fourth straight game after Vermes told media on Friday that Roger Espinoza was the only player he’d call “questionable” ahead of the Dallas match.

Sporting KC II eliminated from postseason
After a 3-2 loss in the last ever match vs St. Louis FC, SKCII are out of playoff contention.

SKCII continue road swing on Tuesday
They’re out of the hunt but travel to Texas to play Austin Bold FC, who are still in the fight.

Doyle recaps all the action around Week 12 in MLS
Good stuff from around the league that’s worth the update, but I don’t know how you could even write two sentences about SKC vs Dallas and not mention how ugly FCD played that match.

AT&T Goal of the Week
Not the most amazing list here. But FC Cincinnati scored an olympico so that has my vote. Although Gyasi Zardes had a very nice little back heel goal this week.

Chicago teammates argue over penalty kick, then miss
This is just one of those things that makes me cringe so much. You NEVER want to see stuff like this from your team. The coach took the blame, and I agree.

Weston McKennie made his Serie A debut this weekend for Juventus.

Report: Elis to Boavista in Portugal
Oh no, this is so sad. He’ll be missed so mu..loljk.
