Sporting Kansas City’s Daniel Salloi hasn’t been on the pitch since the September 2nd draw against FC Dallas. Nearly a month of missed soccer and now we have official confirmation as to why . Salloi confirmed he had COVID-19 and has since recovered in a recent Instagram post. It confirms what was long suspected was the case.
“finally cleared healthy and back on the field. time to work and finish the season strong stay safe out there! goodbye covid ✌ ” — @danielsalloi
He missed chances to appear in four separate games, missing action against the Houston Dynamo, Minnesota United, Dallas and Orlando City. Sporting KC went 1-2-1 over that stretch.
For the season Salloi hasn’t gotten on the field much. He has no starts (in league play) and just four appearances for 66 minutes. He has three shots (one on goal) and no goals or assists.
With Alan Pulido out until this past Wednesday, it was potentially a missed opportunity for Salloi as Khiry Shelton moved to striker for most of those games and there was only two healthy wingers (Johnny Russell and Gerso Fernandes) available. It’ll be interesting to see if Salloi finally finds his form upon his return.
Welcome back Daniel!
