Sporting KC II announced the signing of left back Aedan Stanley on Friday, pending league and federation approval.
This news comes after the club announced that Danny Barbir will be returning and the signing of Preston Judd. Stanley has represented the U.S. as a youth international, representing the U-18 national team before joining several training camps with the U-20’s.
Stanley will remain in the USL Championship with SKC II after spending 2020 with Portland Timbers 2, where he played every second of their 16 matches. The 21-year-old finished the season with two assists.
Before joining Timbers 2, Stanley spent two years playing at ACC powerhouse Duke University, where he played 37 games across both seasons and had three assists in his sophomore year. Stanley also earned All-ACC Freshman Team and All-ACC Academic Team honors in both years with Duke.
A native of the St. Louis area, Stanley was part of the St. Louis FC Academy and earned a number of accolades throughout his youth, leading to him signing an Academy contract with St. Louis FC’s first team in 2016. Over three years, Stanley played 20 matches with STL FC before joining Duke.
Stanley will likely be the replacement of Dillon Serna, slotting in at left back. He will join Paulo Nagamura’s side as the fourth defender under contract for 2021.
