Update 1/26/2021:

It appears the move would be a free transfer, a Peter Vermes favorite.

Update: 1/25/2021:

Another tweet is claiming a “principle agreement” is in place.

We’ve got another rumor as Sporting Kansas City looks to build out the roster for the upcoming Major League Soccer season. Daniel Sperry found a tweet from a Turkish journalist from TRT Spor that claims the club is talking with Besiktas about acquiring 29-year-old centerback Nicolas Isimat-Mirin.

A rough translation of the original tweet claims that “Beşiktaş management expects the negotiations to end positively.”

Mirin was most recently on loan with Toulouse in France for the 2019/2020 Ligue 1 season in which they were relegated to Ligue 2. He returned to Besiktas in August but has not featured for them since returning. However, FotMob marked him as injured back in September which could, at least in part, explain his absence from the lineup.

For what it’s worth, TransferMarkt has his current transfer value at $440,000. This is quite a drop in value since the summer of 2018 when it was listed at $4.4 million.

The 6’1” Frenchman has some very nice experience having won five Dutch titles with PSV Eindhoven (three time Eredivisie champion & two Dutch Super Cups). As a result, he also picked up 12 Champions League and six Europa League appearances.

Here is a highlight reel from his days with Eindhoven:
