Daniel Salloi is having a career year with 15 goals and 6 assists. He leads Sporting Kansas City in scoring and is 3rd overall in MLS for goals and is in serious contention for both the MLS Golden Boot and MVP as well as SKC’s MVP.
Salloi broke out in 2018 with 11 goals and demonstrated a penchant for accurately placing his shots. Most of his goals were because of accuracy and not easy tap in opportunities. He also had 3 goals in the 2018 MLS Playoffs.
The next two seasons were not kind to Salloi, 2019 he had a single goal and an assist and in 2020 he had none.
But this year is different. This is 2021 and Sporting KC’s Homegrown left winger is on fire. A new confidence after an off-season of hard work. He is scoring with both feet and fighting to get every single goal.
I used to refer to Salloi as the Hungarian Homegrown. It had a nice alliteration to it and highlighted the unusual path he took to Sporting KC. While he is still Hungarian and getting call ups to the Hungarian National Team and he is still a Homegrown player, it seemed like he needed a new nickname.
Some were calling him Showtime Salloi and while the alliteration was nice, it did not reflect how deadly he has become as a goal scorer.
Hungarian Assassin is another nickname that has floated around broadcasts and social media, but it lacked the beauty of the alliteration.
Hungarian Hitman!
It reflects how deadly he is around the box, it has alliteration and shows his Hungarian roots. While Daniel is far too nice of a human being to ever be a real hitman, on the field he is serious and lethal.
With how well Salloi has played and coming off a two-goal game in Dallas, being voted player of the week and on the team of the week, it was decided he needed a shirt.
So, after all that build up, let me present the t-shirt collaboration with Breaking T. It is available as an adult unisex tee, a hoodie, a youth tee, and a women’s cut v-neck tee. Breaking T has a partnership with the MLS Players Association so it is authorized, and they get a cut of the proceeds.
