What We Want to Happen Today 10/30

A look at today’s other MLS games.

MLS: LA Galaxy at Sporting Kansas City Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

A Saturday of MLS action that doesn’t have much of an affect on Sporting Kansas City. There’s only one match up that affects Kansas City when it comes to a potential playoff match up, the other five games either won’t have an effect at all, or will only effect KC if both teams make MLS Cup.

NYCFC at Miami

What we want to happen: does not matter

Neither team can catch Kansas City on points. New York City FC seems a good bet to amke the playoffs in the East while Inter Miami at this point does not.

San Jose at Salt Lake

What we want to happen: depends on playoff seeding

This game doesn’t directly effect KC, but it does in a potential playoff match up. The San Jose Earthquakes are already eliminated from the playoffs, but Real Salt Lake currently occupy the seventh and final playoff spot. If you’re more confident in KC matching up against Salt Lake as opposed to Minnesota United or Los Angeles FC, then you’re wanting RSL to win here to extend their lead on the two teams in the race for a playoff spot in the West.

Montreal at New York

What we want to happen: does not matter

This game is basically a make or break game for both CF Montreal and the New York Red Bulls as both teams sit below the playoff line on 43 points. For KC though it only matters if KC would rather face one team over the other in a potential MLS Cup as both are only one point outside the final playoff spot in the East.

Toronto at Atlanta

What we want to happen: does not matter

Atlanta United currently sit in sixth in the East on 46 points, only one behind fourth place NYCFC. If you have concerns about facing Josef Martinez and Atlanta in a potential MLS Cup, then you’re cheering for Toronto FC here.

Columbus at DC

What we want to happen: does not matter

The Columbus Crew are three points out of the seventh and final playoff spot, which DC United currently holds. Again it’s a matter of who you feel like KC would match up better against in a potential MLS Cup.

Austin at Dallas

What we want to happen: does not matter

Both Austin FC and FC Dallas are eliminated from playoff contention, this game doesn’t mean anything for KC fans.
