What We Want to Happen Today 10/31 and 11/1

A look at today’s and tomorrow’s MLS games.

MLS: LA Galaxy at Sporting Kansas City Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Week 34 of the MLS season continues today and tomorrow with five more games, one of which is Sporting KC who take the field fist today against Minnesota United. Here’s a look at the other games today and tomorrow and what Kansas City want to happen in those games.

Colorado at Houston

What we want to happen: Houston win

A loss here by the Colorado Rapids would mean that KC would clinch a top 2 spot in the West, no matter KC’s result (though a win by KC in Minnesota before Colorado kicks off would also clinch a top two spot). It would leave the Rapids three points behind KC with Colorado having just one game left. They would lose the first tie breaker, most wins as the Rapids max win total would be 16 while Sporting already has 17 wins.

Nashville at Orlando

What we want to happen: does not matter

Nashville SC can catch KC on points, but loses the first tie breaker as Nasvhille has 12 wins with two games remaining while KC already have 17 wins.

Cincinnati at Philadelphia

What we want to happen: does not matter

FC Cincinnati is eliminated from the playoffs while the Philadelphia Union have already locked in their spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Should KC and Philadelphia meet in MLS Cup, it would be in KC as the Union cannot catch KC on points.

LA at Seattle

What we want to happen: LA win

A win by KC today and a loss here by the Seattle Sounders would put KC in the situation of needing one point from their final two games to wrap up first place in the West and the bye that comes with it. If KC lose against Minnesota then a win by the LA Galaxy would keep KC and Seattle level on points with KC still having one more game to play than the Sounders.
