Across State Lines: Gutierrez Returns to Chile

Former Sporting Kansas City midfielder, Felipe Gutierrez officially returned to his former club, Universidad Catolica last week. Gutierrez has been linked with a move to the club seriously for well over a month, and has been casually mentioned ever since KC declined the option on Gutierrez’s contract for the 2021 season. It’s a disappointing to see Gutierrez depart from Kansas City, but given the size of Gutierrez’s contract combined with the questions about how well Gutierrez would return from the surgery that kept him out of the 2020 season made the move make sense for Kansas City. Sporting tried to re-sign Gutierrez, but a deal between the two couldn’t be reached.

In other former players signing with a new club news, former forward, Soony Saad has a new club after leaving Ansan Greeners in South Korea. Saad has signed with defending Jordanian Premier League champions, Al Wehdat. Al Wehdat is set to start their Asian Champions League season in early April.
