Sporting Kansas City II took their first loss of the season on Saturday evening, losing 2-0 on the road to FC Tulsa. Two first half goals from the hosts was the difference as SKC II struggled to create chances of their own.
Paulo Nagamura sent out eight SKC Academy products while Ozzie Cisneros, Grayson Barber and Tyler Freeman were on loan from the first team. Matt Constant, Jayvin Van Deventer, Cisneros, and Barber all made their SKC II debut.
Tulsa found their opening goal in the 14th minute after Jorge Corrales centered the ball for Joaquín Rivas, who finished it near the penalty spot.
The home side made it 2-0 in the 25th minute when Darío Suárez applied the finish assisted by Rodrigo da Costa.
The visitors looked better in the second half but still lacked the creative edge. SKC II’s best opportunity came in the 62nd minute when Grayson Barber’s shot from the top of the box hit the post.
Sporting KC II will look for their first win next Friday when they return to Children’s Mercy Park for the first time in over a year for a meeting against the OKC Energy. The match will be closed to the public, but available on ESPN+.
