The MLS Secondary Transfer Window will close on Thursday, August 5th and according to Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes, there is a possibility of a player (or players) being added to the roster before the window closes.
“I think there is a good possibility you will see some movement regarding our roster,” Vermes told media in the pre-game press conference. “We are looking to acquire some players. It’s something we’ve been working on, I wouldn’t say there is anything accomplished yet but I think we’re getting closer for sure.”
Vermes makes it sound possible that a new player or two might be joining SKC and other sources also indicate something could happen before the close of the window.
And of course, there is also the probability that Gianluca Busio will be exiting soon for Italy.
Not many rumors...
Perhaps it has been the Busio transfer focus sucking the air out of any other reporting. Maybe it's been the U.S. Men’s National Team beating Mexico twice in finals this summer. Whatever the cause, there has been a dearth of rumors about incoming transfers to Sporting KC.
The only rumor that had any legs recently was Mounir Chouiar. a 22-year-old French player currently with Dijon FCO. Chouiar can play any of the attacking spots but seemed to mostly play left wing for Dijon. His club is wanting to reduce the budget after being relegated and Chouiar is out of favor, reportedly not training with first team.
It is more likely that Chouiar will remain in Europe with a few teams expressing interest in him but he could be a fit for SKC with the new MLS U22 initiative that incentivizes younger stars with potential.
