A few days ago there was a report in the UK that Ghanaian defender John Mensah was to undergo a trial with Sporting Kansas City. With the perceived lack of depth at center back it was no secret that Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes was looking to bring someone in during the summer transfer window. Mensah, 32, has played at Sunderland, Lyon and Rennes.
When asked if there was any truth to the report, Vermes replied:
Vermes: Yes there is but he is not going to be here. We're not going to take him.
Speaking of the transfer window, any movement?
Vermes: Nothing yet.
Mensah was at the training center but it looks like he did not fit what Vermes was looking for or he is feeling less need with the strong play of Ellis lately. This of course does not mean that there are not other players coming in, just nothing that Vermes feels he can mention yet.
